The Petit Pont links the quai Saint-Michel to the front of Notre-Dame. It is situated in the axis of the ancient roman way of Paris. The Petit-Pont is the shortest bridge of the city (40m).In 1186, bishop de Sully ordered its construction (he also ordered the construction of the cathedral Notre-Dame), it was rebuilt 11 times until its last construction under the Second Empire. The first bridge was in wood and linked roman district to the ancient ile de la Cite called ile de Lutece.
