In hoage to the master of couture (1895-1972) and the 40th anniversary of his death, reveals Galliera, with the support of the House of Balenciaga, a collection of modes passionately assembled by fashion, generously given by his family to the museum. From April 13 to October 7, 2012, at the Docks - City of Fashion and Design.

Body and casaquins whales, light satin dress, velvet boleros, capes and cloaks, dresses Turnings, cashmere stoles, lace mantillas, samples of embroidery and trimmings ... All these pieces, often gorgeous, sometimes modest, jumble up this collection of eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
More than seventy costumes and elements interact with clothes forty dresses and coats of high fashion designer Balenciaga between 1937 and 1968, funds from the Galliera or loaned by the House of Balenciaga. Accessories, pictures, sketches and books on art and costume complete this as reflecting the designer's passion for the story of his mastery of a craft learned as a child, with her mother.
Set design, restoring the reserves of a fashion museum with long aisles of compactus drawers, presents these treasures of inspiration that have archival value. For the visitor, an invitation to browse the ""imaginary museum"" of Cristóbal Balenciaga: a traditional Spanish folk, black and dark colors, the blueprint of religious dress and ceremony, the great masters of Spanish painting, and share of creative intimacy ""Couturier couturiers.""

Walking through the exhibition Balenciaga, collector modes, the young audience will understand the meaning of a conceptual approach to own work of a stylist. During a workshop, he will follow in the footsteps of fashion designer, will draw on ideas from the show, and the board consist of a mini collection of style in his image, according to his feelings and desires.
