The Maillol Museum is back on the extraordinary life of Artemisia Gentileschi, the first woman painter of Italy, at an exhibition which runs from March 14 to July 15, 2012. On this occasion, some sixty paintings will be exhibited: these first paintings in 1610 until recent works, dated 1634, are all characteristic of a particular style, popular in the royal courts.
Thus, the exhibition at the Musée Maillol Artemisia is a special tribute to this amazing artist: daughter of a renowned painter, Orazio Gentileschi, Artemisia would have bathed in the art world since his childhood ... Passionate about painting, it would be launched from the age of 15 years in making paintings.
While the women of that time remained cantonées for domestic activities and could not pledge their lives, Artemisia Gentileschi lived in her art, repeated by the greatest citizens of the time.
