Misia Godebska (1872-1950) was a legendary figure of French artistic life of the Belle Epoque to the Roaring Twenties. She begins to make itself known by her talent as a pianist. Her marriage in 1893 with Thadée Natanson, the editor of La Revue Blanche, propels her to the center of a group of creators defending a Symbolist and decorative art.
At the peak of her influence, she became one of the most portraiturées women of her time posing for Bonnard, Vuillard, Vallotton, Toulouse-Lautrec, Renoir. Friend of Diaghilev, Nijinsky, Stravinsky, Cocteau, Chanel, she finances the Ballets Russes for over a decade.
