Discussion about a work of Saadi Youssef.
Saadi Youssef: since the 1950s, Saadi Youssef has built a poetic blending political history and autobiography that has captivated the attention of many readers. Born near Basra, Iraq, in 1934 he was professor of arabic literature, living successively in many Arab and European cities, and was translated into Arabic several major poets of the twentieth century, which cavafy, lorca, ritsos and whitman. His work now spans missed more than thirty books of poems, which explore a very personal emotional geography of the middle east and north africa, and the vicissitudes of exile and permanent imaginary arabic. An anthology of his poems is available in French translation under the title of the first heaven far (actes sud).
